This year, we will have the first exhibit dedicated to artwork created by Pence Members! Titled Assorted Flavors, the exhibit is from May 1 – June 6, 2025, in the Dowling Community Gallery.

This is an open theme display, and work doesn’t have to be for sale. Each Pence Member may bring in one piece of their choosing in any medium, and we will install it for you! Maximum dimensions are 30” in any direction (including frame), no heavier than 30 lbs., and all work should be ready to install.

Drop-off is April 23 from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM. We are limited to the first 40 artists, and there is $25 fee per entry.

The Pence’s Slice exhibit is open for submission by California artists working in any medium (except video or sound). This is an ‘open theme’ exhibit, which showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 36” wide, and three-dimensional work must not exceed 75 lb. Applicants may submit between 1- 3 images of work for review, with an artist statement and resume, at www.callforentry.org, and pay $30 for Pence members ($35 non-Pence members) by May 16th, 9 PM PST. 

This year’s juror is Susie Kantor. Sheis the Associate Curator & Exhibition Department Head at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis. Her curatorial projects there include Through Their Eyes: Selections from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection; Phillip Byrne, Beatriz Cortez, Kang Seung Lee, Candice Lin: Entangled Writing; Shiva Ahmadi: Strands of Resilience; Loie Hollowell: Tick Tock Belly Clock; and From Moment to Movement: Picturing Protest in the Kramlich Collection. Previously, she worked at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. She holds an MA in Art History with a focus on 17th century Dutch painting from New York University, Institute of Fine Arts.
