Natalie Nelson, Director/Curator
Natalie is the Director/Curator of the Pence Gallery, a nonprofit art organization centering on exhibiting the work of Northern California artists. She currently curates an active calendar of changing exhibits, in addition to developing education programs for adults and children. She has an MA in Art History from USC and has worked for over 20 years in museums and nonprofit art galleries. She is also an artist and educator who has taught classes for many years at the Crocker and other organizations.
Eileen Hendren, Assistant Director
Eileen comes to the Pence from an extensive career that focused on marketing. With a BA and MA in English and a minor in Art History, she spends her time working on membership, curating the Andresen Learning Center Gallery, and coordinating the gift shop.
Katharine Schultz, Education Director
Katharine manages the Pence’s educational programs, including ArtSmart, the Art History Lecture Series, and adult workshops, supervises volunteers, coordinates event rentals, and also assists with fundraising. She completed her MA in Art History at the University of California, Davis, and enjoys teaching art history classes and working with pastels and watercolor in her free time.
Liz McGuire, Graphic & Web Designer
Liz designs all print and digital materials for the Pence and maintains the gallery’s website. She completed her BA in Graphic Design at California State University, Sacramento and has an AS in Business with a focus on Marketing. Liz is also a visual artist whose preferred mediums include mixed-media, jewelry, quilting, sculpting and watercolor.
Jenna Matsubara, Marketing Coordinator
Jenna advertises the Pence’s exhibitions, events, and programs through marketing and social media platforms. She also manages the social media & advertisements for the monthly 2nd Friday ArtAbout artwalk in downtown Davis. Jenna has a BA in Art History and minor in Studio Art from the University of California, Davis.
Amy Vidra, Preparator
Amy is the art preparator for the Pence and co-facilitates the Healing Arts workshops. She comes to the Pence with a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art and a Masters in Art Therapy/Counseling from Southwestern College. She is a mixed media abstract artist and teaches art workshops for the Pence and the Sacramento area.
Sophie Jorcino, Gallery Associate
Sophie manages the gallery on Saturdays and helps facilitate the figure drawing sessions. She is currently an undergraduate at UC Davis, where she studies Art History and Cinema & Digital Media. In her free time, she likes to explore Davis and make ceramic dishes and sculptures.
Josh Tulman, Assistant Preparator
Josh is the Pence Assistant Art Preparator of exhibits and also supports gallery special events. He studied illustration at Parsons NY, works as an illustrator and visual communicator in Davis, and appreciates being a part of the Davis art community.

Development Manager
Onsite, Part-time (24 hrs per week)
Job Summary:
The Development Manager guides the Pence’s fundraising and development initiatives to meet the Gallery’s annual and long-range financial goals. This role involves managing donor relations, assisting with organizing fundraising events, and building our member base. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts, and skilled in communication and organization.
