Yolo Visions is the Pence’s first display of art that centers on visual interpretations of the people, places, and unique landscapes of Yolo County. As a predominantly rural county, Yolo is bound to inspire depictions of its fields, barns, and agricultural buildings. As the site of a large UC campus, Yolo is also urbane in its outlook, offering cutting edge architecture by internationally reknown architects, from the Manetti Shrem Museum in Davis to The Barn in West Sacramento.
Yolo County promotes both a diversity of subject matter and expression by our local artists. Surrounded by waterways such as Putah Creek and the Yolo Basin, the county is full of areas that invite artistic interpretation. Paintings, sculpture and drawings by Hannah Hunter, Marlene Lee, Joseph Bellacera, Philippe Gandiol, David Nasater, Michael Radin, Phil Gross, Anne Lincoln, Karen Fess-Uecker, Dave Webb, Rebecca Ryland, Sandy Whetstone, Sara Post, Paula Bellacera, Rene Martucci, Marti Walker, and Naomi Bautista are included in this exhibit. In all, Yolo Visions is what the viewer brings to it, as perceiving beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.
