In 1990, a small group of artists who participated in a compelling fiber sculpture program at the College of Marin, launched a forum to sustain the momentum of that studio class. That was the origin of fiber/DIMENSIONS, which now has 48 members. We meet monthly for critique, art tours, workshops, and demonstrations.
Since our founding, fiber/DIMENSIONS has sponsored art community symposia and had numerous group exhibits, most notably the /Intersections/ series that was presented regularly at the San Francisco Presidio. Our exhibits have been reviewed in /Fiber Arts Magazine/ and /Surface Design Journal/. Our members exhibit nationally and internationally.
We bring a diversity of disciplines to our work, including weaving, felting, quilting, printing, crochet and knitting, embroidery, paper manipulation and welding. Though we mix media and stretch tradition, it is the vitality and potential of fiber and fiber technique that connects us in the unique fiber/DIMENSIONS collaborative.
